Well 2018 is here. I intend, as one of my resolutions, to blog more. At least once a week.

So here we go with a spotlight on the GM screen for the Call of Cthulhu RPG. Last year, Chaosium have really pushed hard with Call of Cthulhu and a considerable part of that is production values. All their books are going to full colour for example. So how does this translate to the screen?

That is what you will see if you are looking at it in a shop but note that the screen is in a landscape format with 3 panels on solid card, I'd say slightly thinner than the thickness on a hardcover rpg book. According to the credits, the artwork is by Ardila and very nice it is too, Extending to the right you see the remains of a pyramid, I presume from the surroundings it is meant to be South America. To the left, you see the rest of the group and on the edge some trees with some tentacles! That's the players side, on the referee side, the three panels cover damage, combat, insanity and vehicles. Now if you compare to older Cthulhu screens some things are missing eg The Resistance table but that's because that is not used in 7th edition. As for the other things missing, that's part of why this screen is such good value which you will see in the next picture.

From left to right

Keeper's References Booklet 24 pages (2 pages of ads) which contains the info previous screens had and then some. Quick Investigator Creation, Skills, Phobias, Manias, Mythos Tomes, Weapon Tables and Keeper Rulebook index. Coupled with the info on the screen this is loads of useful stuff for the Keeper.

Blank Character Sheets. As it says on the tin but on quality paper.

Floor plans and Maps for ..the

2 adventure booklet 96 pages (3 pages of ads) Both adventures come with handouts and pre-generated characters.

3 Maps Arkham, Lovecraft Country and the World. Kinda think there is too much info on the World Map i.e.it has markers where there is Mythos sites. You couldn't show that to player characters unless they had been battling against the Mythos for years but that is a very minor grumble. You get a lot for your money here, more than I have seen with any other screen for any other system, and of course with Chaosium being part of the Bits n Mortar scheme, you get a free digital copy of this if you purchase from a participating store or direct from Chaosium themselves. That includes .mobi and .pub versions of the scenario booklet..

In simple terms a high quality product, with lots of content and very good value for money. If you play 7th Ed, for me it is a no brainer - buy it!
