Well, where the hell has the year gone?
Well I can only apologise the blog has really suffered this year as I have had a lot of crap going on this year that has really crippled the creativity. Gaming has being impacted, the fortnightly gaming group hasn't met this year at all. I have only done one wargame (40k) in about six months. The only vaguely constant has been the Sunday D&D game, It has had a couple of breaks over the summer and autumn as people have been away. Not my favourite system by any means but we are a good group of players and the DM is very good. I had a chat with him a while back to discuss my character's advancement which I am very happy with how it went.
I do hope that the gaming side of things improves. We have a few local gaming nights and I should be able to get onboard with a Friday club night one with Role Play Haven Plymouth. I have managed a couple of sessions incl a demo game of Zweihander which is a nod to 1st Ed WFRP under OGL. Of course it is stripped of any GW copyright and therefore is not set in the old world. I enjoyed it, will probably pick up a copy at some point. It is getting plenty of support.
The intention is to get back into running some stuff myself. The problem is deciding what to run. Call of Cthulhu is an obvious choice, I'd like to run "The Haunting" at the club for new players. It is a classic. If I can restart the Saturday fortnightly crew, that would be The One Ring and/or Call of Cthulhu. The Friday club needs GM's to run oneshots for drop-in and new players. I formulate an adventure for Battlestar Galactica (Cortex system), John Carter of Mars (Momentum system - simplified 2d20), Uprising (Fate system - slowly doing a write-up of this) are options that attract me. I could also run the Star Wars Age of Rebellion Starter Set. I really fancy Dragon Warriors but only have it on PDF and for rulebooks I prefer a physical book.
With Warhammer 40k, I need to get into painting my Space Wolves. Most that I have built are primed and I have base coated a fair few of them. I secondary army I have is the Drukhari. There is a lovely boxset out at the moment with a clash of the Aeldari, Craftworld Vs Drukhari. Some lovely models but too rich for my blood at the moment. Nobody in our group plays Craftworld so a chunk of minatures I wouldn't use and I need to save money at the moment hence not going for the Sisters of Battle box either (I will get into them hopefully next year as they will compliment one of the other guys' Black Templars
I keep on saying it, the blog will be regular i know but I am going to have another crack at it.
