John Carter of Mars

I will be honest, my first awareness of John Carter and Barsoom was with the film released in 2012. I was aware of the science fiction works of HG Wells and Jules Verne, Regarding Edger Rice Burroughs, it was Tarzan I knew him for.

Anyway, we now know the huge influence the John Carter stories were, they almost certainly influenced George Lucas and his Star Wars films. Well now, Modiphius is releasing John Carter of Mars RPG and funding it via Kickstarter

So far they have smashed their target and are knocking down the stretch goals.

This is one sample of the banner artwork from the website, a beautiful landscape piece of art and that is something you will see plenty of in the book as they are printing it in a landscape format specifically so they can accommodate wide art pieces. There is a preview chapter up and well as a sample charcter sheet. The system being used is a "lite" version of their own 2d20 system (used in Conan, Star Trek, Mutant Chronicles etc) so can be an introduction to that system.

I haven't pledged yet but certainly will be come payday. Oh and if you are looking to read the stories, Amazon have them very cheap on kindle, I got the Collected Works of Edger Rice Burroughs (including Tarzan stories, The Land That Time Forgot and others as well as the Mars Tales)
